This guitar was built by:  Brian Roy Irwin

Model :  the “Frances” cutaway with Martin long scale fret board.

Guitar is made with the following materials and methods:  Soundboard is made from a reclaimed piece of Bear Claw Spruce.  Back and sides are made of Walnut.  Neck is Sapele Mahogany.  Fret board and Bridge is Bloodwood.  This guitar is entirely made by hand with little use of power tolls.  Over 200 hours went into the construction of the instrument.  The finish of the entire instrument is a hand rubbed French polish.

The shape and design of the guitar is my own vision—not a copy of existing guitars.  I have built a number of guitars in search of a good design that I can call my own and I think this design works and looks well for my V-style cutaway.  I also can make this guitar in a mirror image design for a non-cutaway.  I also can make this guitar in a mirror image design for a non-cutaway or traditional dreadnaught design.  The can also be made from various different woods to achieve a different look and different sound qualities.  My goal is to never build the same guitar twice.  I believe each guitar should be a custom one of a kind instrument.

The High Tea Fundraiser went very well.  People told me they had a good time and enjoyed the food (and the tea too) and they are looking forward to the next one.  We are considering a Tea in late January.  The silent auction was a success too, bringing in $590 by its self.  When it was all said and done (after expenses) the whole event brought in over $1500!

Several ladies have asked about developing a fundraising committee.  If you would like to help with fundraising, please contact me.  The committee will meet every 4 to 6 weeks and discuss fundraising ideas and planning.

I want to thank all the ladies who hosted tables.  This event could not have happened without you.  You all did a wonderful job!  It was amazing to see the different decorating themes and styles.  My only regret is that I didn’t get pictures of all of the tables.  If anyone has pictures, please send them.  I’d love to post them on the website.

Thank you:  Shannon Krabill, Corine Jeffery, Rebecca Emmons, Joanna Anderson, Kimberly Wise, Autumn Bliege, Britney Cawrse, Breanna Reese. I think I’m missing someone, sorry.

Raffle tickets for the Handmade Guitar and a lawn mower were sold at the Tea and will continue to be sold at events around town. They can also be purchased at my office at 144 W Grant St in Lebanon or by call in me at  541-367-2872  or  541-401-2658.  The guitar raffle will end on December 20th just in time for Christmas.  The lawn mower raffle drawing is To-Be-Announced.

I will be posting pictures of the beautiful handmade guitar on a link at our website  www.GrowingFamilyMidwifery.com  Encourage people to take a look and buy ticket.

If you know of any bazaars, job fairs, business fairs, craft fairs or other places we can have a table to sell raffle tickets and pass out fliers about bring a birth center to Linn County, please contact me.

Looking Ahead:

October 10th , Saturday-  I will be at a Chili Cook-Off from 1 to 7pm at the Lebanon Elks.   Come taste my chili (and vote for mine!).  We will have information about the birth center there.

December 4th & 5th  Friday 9-6 & Saturday 9-4-  Bazaar at Lebanon Mennonite Church.  Contact Britney (541-981-3836) if you would like to be a vender.

End of January- look for the next Tea.

As we are getting ready for the High Tea Fundraiser, exciting things are happening almost every day.  Here is the latest information:

  • The Stash Tea company donated 3 kinds of tea for our event.  The box arrived in the mail today!
  • Monday I received a donation of a very large, beautiful glass bowl that appears to be hand blown glass.  I am going to check about listing it on Ebay.
  • We have received several gift certificates for the silent auction (I think I’ll keep those a secret. You’ll have to come to the tea to find out what they are.)
  • The Handmade Guitar is finished.  We’ve decided to sell raffle tickets until December 15th for it.  Tickets will be $1 each.  The guitar will be displayed for the first time at the tea.

Please keep spreading the word and encourage people to come to the High Tea.

We are getting the plans set for the Tea and now we need people to host a table and sell tickets.

It’s time for women to have more birthing options!

Our goal is to find a house along Hwy 34 or on the west side of Lebanon to be centrally located for South of Salem, North of Eugene, and between Philomath and Stayton.  Currently, families in these areas have to travel at least and hour to get to a Birth Center.

Birth Centers have staff trained in out-of-hospital birth. They have equipment such as IVs, medication for hemorrhage, oxygen and infant resuscitation equipment and are trained to handle medical emergencies pertaining to childbirth and the newborn until an ambulance arrives.

Some of the reasons women with low risk pregnancies choose a Birth Center:

♥  It is a place that is safe, comfortable, and honors your birthing wishes.

♥  You will know who your birth team will be.  They will provide you prenatal care and support you throughout your labor.

♥  You may choose who you invite to be at your birth.

♥ You aren’t limited to laboring on a bed. You can birth on the birth stool, water tub, standing, squatting, or whatever happens to evolve.

♥  Birth Centers have less interventions, lower c-section rates and  no routine procedures.

♥  You have access many modalities of natural pain management (such as water, message, etc.).

♥  Birth Centers are affordable.
